Sowmya Ayyar is the Founder of Prafull Oorja Charitable Foundation, training yoga therapists to work with communities in vulnerable conditions such as special needs children, prison inmates, and children with cancer. She holds an MA in Peace Studies from the University of Innsbruck (Austria), an MA in Environmental Security from UN UPeace (Costa Rica), and a BS in Sociology from Santa Clara University (California). In addition, Ms. Ayyar has a PG Diploma in Social Innovation Management from Amani Institute (Bangalore) and a Yoga Teacher Training Certification from Southwest Institute for Healing Arts (Arizona). A keen student on a wide variety of Indic related topics, Sowmya plans her PhD work to intersect across several such fields. Sowmya is an avid hiker, loves to dance in the rain, and enjoys the company of elders.
