Mr. Oscar Pujol

Catalan Indologist, Institute Cervantes

Mr. Oscar Pujol studied Sanskrit at the Banaras Hindu University where he took his PhD with the edition of the Samarthapāda of the Tantrapradīpa, a manuscript on Sanskrit Grammar from XII century Bengal. He has published several books and translations from the Sanskrit classics among them The Wisdom of the Forest: translations from the Upaniṣads, Hymn to the Earth, The Love Thief of Bilhaṇa, Savitrī, Kāvyapuruṣotpattiḥ of Rājaśekhara, The Yogasūtra of Patañjali, Rasa: Aesthetic Pleasure in Indian Aesthetics, From The Ganges to the Mediterranean and two monographs one on Śaṃkara and another on Patañjali. He has into his account more than 100 published articles and reviews. He has also published the Sanskrit-Catalan Dictionary (2005) and the Sanskrit-Spanish Dictionary (2019), of 64.000 words that for the first time includes the etymologies of contemporary Philology and those of the Indian Grammarians. In 2002 he helped in establishing Casa Asia (Barcelona) as Director of Educational Programmes introducing the teaching of Asian languages, including Sanskrit, promoting the creation of Asian degrees at Spanish Universities and fostering Indo-Spanish relations. He founded in 2007 the Instituto Cervantes of New Delhi. He has also directed the Instituto Cervantes of Porto Alegre, Rio de Janeiro and Fez. Presently he is the Director of the Instituto Cervantes of New Delhi


Dr. Pappu Venugopala Rao

Dr. Pappu Venugopala Rao, a well-known scholar and a poet has written about 22 books on various subjects. Holding three Masters in English, Telugu and Sanskrit and a Ph D in Sanskrit, he has delivered workshops all over the world.


Mr. Gerard Huet

Sanskrit Computational Linguist (France)

Gérard Pierre Huet is a French computer scientist, linguist and mathematician. He is senior research director at INRIA and mostly known for his major and seminal contributions to type theory, programming language theory and to the theory of computation.


Dr. Shankar Rajaraman

Sanskrit Poet

Shankar Rajaraman is a psychiatrist by training and a Sanskrit poet by passion. His interests include Sanskrit literature, Indian aesthetics and Indian psychology. Shankar Rajaraman is a Post-doctoral Fellow with the NIAS Consciousness Studies Programmeat the National Institute of Advanced Studies. He holds a MBBS degree (2000) from Bangalore University and a post-graduate Diploma in psychiatry (2004) from the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. He is a recipient of the prestigious Badarayan Vyas Samman (2019) from the President of India for his contribution to Sanskrit language and literature. He has translated several books from Sanskrit to English and from Sanskrit to Kannada. He has also published journal papers on "Theory of Emotions in Sanskrit Poetics and its Implications in Psychiatric practice" in Journal of Indian Psychology


Dr. Palghat Ramprasad

Carnatic Musician (India)

Grandson of the legendary mridangist, Palghat Mani Iyer, Dr Ramprasad started learning music from a very young age from his father Shri TR Rajaram. Hailed as a child prodigy by many, even as a teenager, Ramprasad was accompanied on the stage by lengendary artists such as "Sangeetha Kalanidhi's" Shri TK Murthy, Late Shri. Palghat Raghu,Shri. TV Gopalakrishnan, Shri. Kandadevi Azhagirisawmy to name a few. Ramprasad aims at adhering to the traditional classical style with particular emphasis on "Neraval" singing which according to his grandfather is a the test of a true vocalist. An "A" grade artist, Ramprasad holds a doctorate on Economics from University of Georgia.
