SoftTalk 5: Sacred Spaces, Sounds and Mother Earth on June 6

The Center for Soft Power will be holding a webinar on Sacred Spaces, Sounds and Mother Earth on June 6 at 6 pm to mark World Environment Day.

Participating in the webinar will be the following speakers:

Dr Chithra Madhavan is a historian and an authority on temple architecture, iconography and epigraphy. She is the author of seven books on the history and culture of South India in general and Tamil Nadu in particular. Dr Chithra frequently delivers lectures on heritage-related topics in various places in India.

Dr Jayanthi Kumaresh is one of the foremost Veena artistes of India. Jayanthi comes from a lineage of musicians who have been practising Carnatic music for six generations and started playing the Saraswati Veena at the age of 3. She has travelled all over the world spreading the sonic beauty of India’s national instrument.

Kalyan Varma: Kalyan Varma is a wildlife photographer, filmmaker, naturalist and explorer specializing in environmental issues in India. He freelances with many of the world's leading magazines, environmental NGOs and television channels like National Geographic and BBC.

Dr. G.B. Harisha, is the Director of the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre at Hanoi, Vietnam. He has translated Veer Savarkar’s book Hndutva into Kannada. He is an author on Hindu Philosophy, History & Culture. He will be speaking about the influence of Hinduism on Vietnamese culture.
