Suryathon: Practise Suryanamaskars for Life

Suryathon: Practise Suryanamaskars for Life

Practising Suryanamaskars will keep your body healthy, calm your mind, and elevate your consciousness.

Indica Yoga, Center for Soft Power and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations have collaborated with LifeCykul to launch Suryathon, an app that allows you to practise mantra-led Suryanamaskars at your preferred pace and for as many rounds as you can. This initiative is part of the activities that we have planned for the International Day of Yoga on 21st June 2021.

The COVID-19 pandemic has inspired people across the world to change our lifestyles and realise how essential it is to be in good health. The ancient Indian yogic practice of Suryanamaskar is an effective method of keeping the body and mind healthy, and it is a practice that is accessible, easy to learn and can be performed by people of all ages and fitness levels. This series of 12 yoga postures has gross and subtle health benefits which include balancing the endocrine, circulatory, respiratory and digestive systems. The foundation of asana practice starts with Suryanamaskar and with regular practise, the practitioner will experience a lifetime of good health and well-being.

Suryathon is our way of inspiring and encouraging yoga practitioners and non-practitioners to start incorporating Suryanamaskars in their daily health routines. While you’re at it, why not create good karma, too.

Youth for Seva

We believe karma yoga is the highest purpose of spiritual practice, so the Rs 150 that you pay when you register to join Suryathon will be donated to Youth for Seva a charity that works to help children who have lost their parents to COVID. What’s more, join the Suryathon League and encourage your students and friends to join as well. Why? Because for every round of Suryanamaskar that you practise, funds are donated to Youth for Seva. Satisfy your competitive spirit and do good while you’re at it.

How to Join

Download the app on LifeCykul and register here for Rs 150 (per person).

When: The league will be held between 12th June and 19th June with the grand finale on 20th June.  The league is suitable for group participation. Participants can form teams in the league and compete for the maximum number of Suryanamaskars practised.
